Tycho wont connect 11 Years, 1 Month ago
Hello,

In Tycho I can get the preference screens to all "test connection" OK.

But setting up a voicemail box, I can't get a connection.

What exactly should the 'Context' be? is it like [general] or [default] ? or is "5704" as the extension?

Thanks,
Murray

Hi Murray,

please explain this in more detail. You test with lets say "box-a.com" (test connection say ok) and then when accessing this "box-a.com" you dont get a "connection"? Does the client ouput any error message?

Context could be "default" or even "general", "5704" sounds like an extension.

The context you specify when adding a voicemailbox is the "voicemail" (voicemail.conf) context. The context you specify when adding an extension (for dialing) is the the one used in "extensions.conf".

If you dont know what context youre using, or never heard of asterisks "context" concept i suspect youre using a third party tool like AMP
to configure asterisk. In this case you need to findout which context is used by youre configuration tool!

If you use a third party tool to configure asterisk please ask on the appropriate support forum/mailing list which context ist used by our tool for voicemail configuration and which one for dialing-out in
extensions.conf. Please report back so other users may profit from your investigations.

Thanks Arnd,

I do use Trixbox to set up Asterisk. And the 'context' part was
confusing me.

Thanks for trying to help me.

In my voicemail.conf it says:
---------------------------
[default]
700 => 4321,Joe, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ,,attach=no|saycid=no|envelope=no|delete=no
--------------------------
So I see the context should be [default]

And the "name" is 700 for example (or is it "Max" ?), and the password is 4321.

The Voicemail item appears in Tycho. But still no connection, and no
voicemail boxes appear. Nothing appears in /var/log/asterisk/full. If
I try to create a folder it says "Java.lang exception "Context [default]
not found!"

The HTTP access log shows:

192.168.0.2 - [default]/400 [05/Sep/2006:12:24:33 +1000] "GET /vmxml/voicemail.php?folder=test&action=createfolder& HTTP/1.1" 200 75 "-" "Java/1.5.0_06"

If I test Tycho --> Preferences --> Voicemail --> Test Connection ......
it reports "Connection Tested Successfully" and the HTTP access log shows (note the 401):

192.168.0.2 - - [05/Sep/2006:12:23:15 +1000] "GET /vmxml/voicemail.php HTTP/1.1" 401 - "-" "Java/1.5.0_06"

Thanks for your help

Be sure to enter only "default" not "[default]" when specifying the context.

right.

You did enter "[default]", remove the "["/"]", just enter "default". Then it should work. In addition, please check the FAQ in the support Forum if you
still cant access or copy/move/delete voicemails. Basicly the apache user
must be able to access asterisks voicemail spool. So please check that
/var/spool/asterisk/voicemail is accessible by whichever userid your
apache uses.

> it reports "Connection Tested Successfully" and the HTTP access log shows (note the 401):

This just tests if Tycho can access "voicemail.php" correctly. Its not an indication that the voicemail setup is correct.
